Photo Contest FAQ

Q. What are the photo requirements for the contest?

Q. Should my photos be landscape or portrait?

Images should be colour (RGB) and landscape format. Please note that photos will be cropped to fit within the 11in(W) x 8.5in(H) calendar frame. Images should be a minimum of 2000 pixels on the long edge and free of signatures, watermarks, or other text.

Q. How many photos can I submit?

A maximum of three photos can be submitted per person.

Q. Is there a fee to submit a photo?

Yes, there is a fee of $5.00 to enter. All proceeds go to supporting the care of our injured and orphaned wild patients. Thank you!

Q. Can I submit a photo of any wild animal species native to Alberta?

Yes, as long as the animal is native (i.e. not an introduced species) to Alberta. You can also submit photos of animals that migrate to and from the province, they do not need to be year-round residents.

Q. How does voting work?

Photographs will be posted onto the website on September 9th and voting will be open and run through to Sunday, September 27th. Winners will be chosen by popular vote. 

Q. How do I manage to have one of my photograph's displayed on the front cover of the calendar? 

The cover of the calendar will be awarded to the photograph with the most votes. If your entry gets the most votes, you win the top spot! :) 

Q. What happens if one of my entries wins one of the twelve spots?

You will be contacted directly by an AIWC staff member once the voting has ended. A high-resolution photo will be requested.

Q. What will AIWC do with my entry once it has been uploaded?
